Jorge Carballo was born in El Salvador and has academic training in the bachelor’s degree of Business Administration with a specialization in Business Management from the Universidad Ave María of Nicaragua. He also holds a master's degree in finance from the European School of Economics in Italy, accredited by the University of Buckingham in England.

Mr. Carballo has more than 6 years of professional experience in the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) of the United Nations, where he began as a financial assistant at the Division of Comptroller and Financial Services; he was then promoted to Research Analyst and later to Evaluation Analyst at the Independent Evaluation Office (IOE).

In recent years he has worked as Evaluation Analyst of the IOE in terms of evaluation at an institutional level, country strategies and programs, projects and policy dialogue, covering countries from Latin America, Africa and Asia.
