Why evaluate?

The main objectives of the evaluation are:

  • To improve policy, programmes and projects by providing feedback on lessons learned;
  • To provide a basis for accountability, including providing information for the community.

Through evaluation, valuable information is generated that if given proper feedback, can help to improve future programs and projects with the purpose of optimizing the use of resources.

In terms of accountability, it refers to making development results accessible to the public, as well as to the leaders of member countries. Within this framework, the evaluation promotes dialogue and enhances cooperation among participants in the development process through the exchange of experience at all levels.
